**Before you begin reading, I would like to take this time to share one piece of advice that is so important: This is you and your partner’s day. Your wedding should be planned around what you want to do. Often I hear couples say they struggle with trying to make everyone happy. This ultimately adds unnecessary stress to such a wonderful day. Whether the right day for you means a full guest list full of your favorite people or just you and your partner in the middle of the woods reading your vows; do what feels good to you! Every person who loves and cares about you will ultimately not be upset that you chose to make yourself happy on your wedding day. They may be sad that they missed the chance to celebrate you, but ultimately want what makes you happy! Plus, you can throw a party/reception afterwards if you don’t like the idea of a public ceremony.

Villa Antonia

Nestled amongst the hills directly west of downtown ATX, Villa Antonia is a beautiful escape from the city life. Inspired by the Italian Countryside, they have coined the phrase ‘Tuscany in Texas’. I truly can’t imagine a better way to describe this beautiful estate. Villa Antonia has both breathtaking indoor and outdoor options for your ceremony and reception. An indoor chapel is the perfect indoor space for a ceremony or reception transition. Cilla Antonia’s two spacious outdoor terraces that let you get a full view of Texas hill country as well as the beautiful venue grounds. Removing the stress of weather-worries from your planning is such a relief! Each part of this venue was thoughtfully designed to capture the beautiful of the hill country while still creating an atmosphere for free-flowing conversation. This property boasts a pond, a garden, statues, a fountain, string lights, getting ready suites, and more. They also offer parking attendants to personally shuttle your guests right to the venue, As a wedding photographer, I can’t think of one inch of this place that isn’t breathtaking for photographs. Romance, Elegance and Charm await any couple who chooses to host their wedding day here!

Chapel Dulcinea

This venue became famous for how beautiful AND affordable it is. If you’re down for getting married on a weekday, you can get married here for FREE. There are many reasons that Chapel Dulcinea made my list of the best must venues. To get to the chapel, you take a short trail that takes you past many sculptures, gardens, and hill views. This little chapel in the rolling hills offers unbeatable views, an amazing price, and best of all you get to ring the wedding bells after you ceremony!

The Commodore Perry

Settled on a beautiful estate only 20 minutes from downtown Austin, the Commodore Perry is perfect for an elegant celebration. Whether you’re hoping to elope, host an intimate dinner, or throw a beautiful garden party, this Austin venue has you covered. It has a sunken garden lined with roses and sculptures. The architecture of the chapel, the decor of Luties and the view from the balcony overlooking the gardens are some of my favorite spots here. Mayfield Cottage and Gardens

Peacocks! That’s what I knew this place for before I had ever been. While the free-roaming peacocks and peafowls are very cool, this property has a lot to offer. The ponds are filled with life & Lilly pads, the gardens are full of beautiful flowers and palm trees. This place is nestled away surrounded by trees and just feels so cozy! Mayfield Gardens is perfect for an elopement or a wedding- the space is versatile and can fit many different visions!

Casa Blanca on Brushy Creek

A hidden gem in North Austin, Casa Blanca is an estate wedding venue with everything you could dream of. There are gardens filled with gorgeous statues, two full getting ready suites, gorgeous grounds with a view of the pond, floor to ceiling ballroom windows, and more. I have found this place especially magical during the fall, but you can enjoy a beautiful wedding at this property year-round!

Located in Eastside Austin close to the airport is a uniquely wonderful wedding venue called the Sekrit Theater. This place fills me with the feeling I used to have as a child; there is something new & wonderful around every corner. From funky old Carrs, to a swan boat and the iconic greenhouse, there’s sure to be a beautiful spot for you to say those ‘I do’s. If you’re an animal lover, I have even better news; they have a venue cat Alpha who makes an appearance at almost every ceremony!

Tips for Selecting an Austin Wedding Venue
- Your venue sets the ‘vibe’. For all of your photos, decor, and more your venue is what determines the mood. Be sure to consider the type of photos you have on your Pinterest board or things you envision for your wedding day. For example, if you really love photos that are bright and airy, you don’t want to choose an evening ceremony at a venue that has little to no natural light. Alternatively, if you love the moody photos, candle light and intimate feeling then choosing an afternoon ceremony at an all white greenhouse wouldn’t be the best option for you! Your photographer of course plays a huge role, but we can’t control the sun! Consider how your venue impacts the mood first 🙂
- Consider the weather. Don’t book a 100% outdoor wedding venue in July in Texas. Alternatively, I wouldn’t plan a 100% outdoor ceremony in February either (unless you’re Elsa). Picking a venue that has good inside alternative options is great for easing worries about rain, heat, ice, and more! If not, April, May, September and October are all lovely times of year with nice weather!
- Have an estimated number for your guest list. A lot of venues have a variety of spaces and occupancy limits.
