Annalee + Darien’s ATX Elopement

The Driskill Hotel, an iconic landmark in the heart of downtown Austin, has been a symbol of elegance and luxury since its doors first opened in 1886. As one of the oldest operating hotels in Texas, the Driskill is steeped in history, offering a glimpse into the city’s past with its grand Romanesque architecture, opulent interiors, and timeless charm. The hotel’s rich legacy and architectural grandeur make it a sought-after venue for couples looking to celebrate their wedding in a setting that blends historical significance with modern sophistication.

Though the Driskill was where our time together came to an end, let me take you back to the start of our day. I met Annalee and Darien on the steps of the Travis County Courthouse to begin our day together. Annalee’s aunts were waiting with me and began to chat up a storm. I immediately felt like we were besties! I think they felt the same, because they even asked to take a selfie with me at the end of the day.

Annalee and Darien approached the steps, and as they looked over at us a huge smile lit up their faces. It was time to get married! We went inside together and witnessed a short + sweet ceremony between the two!

Once their ceremony ended, we began taking family photographs outside the courthouse. I love the Guadalupe Street location because it is beautiful, easy to find, has free parking, and most of all Judge Williams is SO incredible! We went the three blocks over to the capital following our time at the courthouse. Then, we wrapped up our time together by sharing cake & champagne together at the Driskill Hotel!

Tips for Couples Planning an Austin Elopement

• Timing: Austin can be such a busy place! As the live music capital of the world, a huge tourist spot, a place with great weather (when the rest of the U.S. is pretty cold) and a great event hub, Austin always has something happening. That said, if you can avoid city-wide events like ACL, SXSW, etc. that shut down our downtown area you will have a much better time navigating our city!
• When it comes to locations, the sky is the limit (literally!) You can get married anywhere, all you need is a marriage license & an officiant. Hot air balloon, your backyard, or the courthouse.
• Make wedding planning a date. Let’s be real, planning a wedding whether it’s just you two or a massive guest list is stressful. Whichever way you go, make it fun! When my husband and I were engaged and planning our wedding, we were only allowed to make big decisions on our designated “planning nights”. We’d share a dinner, coffee and some dessert (longhorn happens to be our favorite) as we discussed such big day. It makes everything intentional & gives you a romantic atmosphere to make those big decisions together!
