I have been a wedding + portrait photographer for almost five years now, and yet I almost never do studio sessions. I’ll be honest- it was always a personal preference. When I first started this journey I would ask myself “why?” Why would I want to shoot on blank backgrounds, empty spaces, or things that don’t really challenge me to use the environment. As I’ve grown as a photographer so has my mindset and I now can appreciate the beauty, storytelling, and impact of studio photography. A lot of amazing photographers helped me recognize this, when I would see their work and say “wow!” yet all that existed was their subject and the background. I have recently started shooting more indoor + studio work and I’m SO happy with it. It is not only helping me grow as a photographer, but is giving my clients a better experience as well. Once I heard that a member opening was available at Mill Street Studios in Lockland, Ohio (my very own hometown) I jumped on the opportunity. Mill Street Collaborative is a group of amazingly talented photographers, and is managed by Alyson McClure. I have so much love and appreciate for all of the hard work Alyson and her family have poured into this space. Growing up in Lockland was very different than most people’s experiences. It’s a very small town, and because of it I have so much love for the community there. To watch Alyson revive a historic building and bring life to a dying part of town was amazing. I am absolutely blown away by the hard work, dedication, and creative mind that she has because this space is absolutely amazing. I am thrilled to be sharing this space with such wonderful people. Every member there values community, friendship, and creativity! I recently attended a member party where we all got to formally meet each other and our families, and when photographers get together… photos happen! We grabbed photos of the new space, and now I get to share them with you. This is just one of the beautiful studio spaces available to my clients to rent for sessions!
